Urban Conservation Treaty for Migratory Birds

Citizen's GuideIn 2002 Houston Audubon became a part of the Urban Conservation Treaty for Migratory Birds, a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to conserve migratory birds in urban areas. Houston Audubon published a citizen's guide to migratory birds of Houston under this program that was published in 2005 as the Citizen's Guide to Migration and the Migratory Birds of the Bayou City.

Houston Audubon Society is the Houston city partner for Flying WILD. Flying WILD, a program of the Council for Environmental Education, introduces students to bird conservation through standards-based classroom activities and environmental stewardship projects. Flying WILD encourages schools to work closely with conservation organizations, community groups, and businesses involved with birds to implement school bird festivals and bird conservation projects. Workshops providing training on both the Flying WILD curriculum and the Citizen's Guide are offered across southeast Texas each year.
