Audubon Docents
The Audubon Docent Guild is a group of volunteers who lead environmental and conservation programs at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary. Docents lead guided tours of the Sanctuary, weekly nature story hours for preschoolers, nature festivals, scout workshops, children's nature-theme birthday parties, night-time owl prowls, summer nature camps and science outreach programs in school classrooms and public libraries. Docents also assist Houston Audubon’s conservation programs including the Tuesday Trail Crew, Cabin TLC Mondays, the Houston Audubon annual gala, and other restoration efforts and special events. Volunteer schedules are flexible and involve both weekday and weekend opportunities for exploring nature with Houston's kids. "Team T.L.C" Cabin Crew
Join the "Team T.L.C." at the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary! We meet on the third Monday of every month, September through May, to give the log cabin and its gardens some heartfelt TLC. Join us for lunch at the cabin at 12:30 PM. We'll provide drinks and a place at the table just for you!
Then we'll work in the cabin and the surrounding gardens from 1 PM to 2 PM. Hope you can join us for this new time! This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and meet like-minded friends! On the TLC agenda are such items as filling bird feeders, sweeping, prepping craft supplies or caring for the animals. For more information, contact Juanita Perkins, telephone 713-932-1639. Tuesday Trail Crew
The Tuesday trail crew at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary meets from 9 AM until noon every Tuesday year-round. Trail crew projects include everything under the sun, including boardwalk construction and maintenance, trail trimming and privet/ligustrum removal.
