  Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary

Drought-related trail closings: As many of you are aware, the drought has had a toll on millions of trees in the Houston area alone. We are working diligently at keeping the trails and fence lines safe for visitors and neighbors. At ELMNS, this means physically taking down dead trees that are close to trails and fence lines. If you visit ELMNS, please be aware that tree work may be going on, and many of our trails are temporarily closed. More information

ELMNS Cabin Restoration Campaign
The historic cabin at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is now in need of repair. Several hand-hewn logs are deteriorating and need to be replaced. We invite you to become a partner in this meaningful project by making a contribution to its restoration. More information.

Rummel Creek Stream Team: We're monitoring Rummel Creek as part of the Texas Stream Team state program. Check out our findings on the Houston Audubon Stream Team blog. If you'd like to be part of the Rummel Creek Stream Team, please contact Bethany Foshee at docent@houstonaudubon.org.

The Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary in West Houston is a 17.5 acre wooded sanctuary along Rummel Creek with a restored log cabin that houses a variety of education programs reaching out into Houston and surrounding areas. Open to the public 365 days a year, it also contains Houston Audubon administrative offices. Our automatic gate currently opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM (9:00 PM in summer), and birders are welcome.

Dog policy: Any dog at the sanctuary must be kept on a leash. Because this is a nature sanctuary, we ask visitors not to bring their dogs.
