  Houston Bird Survey

Many thanks to all our January participants! The next survey will be in June 2010.

The Houston Bird Survey takes place during the months of June and January. When completed, the survey will indicate not only what species of birds live in Houston area but also where they live. We need volunteers to make lists or take surveys of birds. This is a great activity for the whole family. Make a backyard bird list or keep track of the birds where you exercise or walk your dog.

  • Anyone who can identify a bird can participate.
  • The Houston area has hundreds of green spaces, playgrounds, playing fields and woodlands around the city. We urge you to adopt a park near you and record its birds. You may also survey your backyard, your workplace or a green space near you.
  • Keep a list for a month or, better yet, send us multiple reports of different areas.
