How to Get Started
Hints for New Team Leaders
-
Invite one or more friends, associates, or fellow birders to join your team. (It’s helpful, but not absolutely necessary, if one or more of them are able to identify birds – we do award some prizes that are not related to birding expertise.) Every team member is not required to ID every species encountered.
-
Choose a 24-hour period from March 28 – May 4, 2008 when your team can meet to search for birds. For more specific details about how to structure the day for success, click here.
-
Pick a team name and take a digital picture of the group. There is even a prize this year for the "Most Entertaining Team Picture." Need inspiration? Last year’s team names and pictures are here.
-
Enroll your team here. Email your digital picture to Susan Billetdeaux, HAS webmaster.
-
Review the Prize Categories and Rules for information that will help you decide where to go birding. Or call the Houston Audubon office at 713-932-1639 for suggestions.
-
Review the Fundraising Tips to decide how each Team Member will collect donations.
