Education Programs at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary, offered by the Audubon Docent Guild.

The Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary in West Houston is a 17.5 acre wooded sanctuary along Rummel Creek with a restored log cabin that houses a variety of education programs reaching out into Houston and surrounding areas. Open to the public 365 days a year, it also contains Houston Audubon administrative offices. Our automatic gate currently opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM (9:00 PM in summer), and birders are welcome.

Dog policy: Any dog at the sanctuary must be kept on a leash. Because this is a nature sanctuary, we ask visitors not to bring their dogs.

Restoration Committee

The Edith L. Moore log cabin needs exterior restoration work. We have formed a committee for its long-range restoration. If you are interested in becoming involved with the project or know someone knowledgeable about log cabin maintenance, please contact Flo Hannah, telephone 713-932-1639, ext. 105.
