The 2008 Patch features the Black-throated Green Warbler. Black-throated Greens pass through the Upper Texas Coast in the spring as they return from wintering in Mexico and Central America. A common breeder in the coniferous forests of Eastern North America, males are known for their great singing abilities. A male in Massachusetts was observed singing 466 individual songs in one hour. We occasionally hear males sing their "zee zee zoo zee" as they feed in coastal wood lots in the spring.

Graphic artist Linda Feltner has again donated her talents and time to Houston Audubon designing both this year's patch and the t-shirt. Linda has spent the last 24 years designing interpretive graphics for the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the US Forest Service (AK, AZ, CA, OR, WA), the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, and other state, municipal, and private agencies, departments, museums, and organizations. Her scope includes interpretive planning and signage design, artwork, graphic design, camera-ready mechanicals, and coordination with manufacturers.
