Bolivar Shorebirds

Map

Checklist

The Bolivar sanctuaries consist of expanses of gulf front beach, uplands, high quality salt marsh, and extremely productive mud flats. This ideal combination of habitats provides resting, feeding and breeding sites for hundreds of thousands of birds each year. Their special importance to 25 species of shorebirds prompted its designation as a "site of hemispheric importance" by the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network. Open to the public year round.
