  Armand Bayou Nature Center Survey

December Survey in conjunction with Armand Bayou CBC
In December, Armand Bayou's Christmas Bird Count will be held on December 27, 2008; we desperately will need volunteers for this as well. The area in particular we are looking for extra help with is the Nature Center grounds itself. There is a lot of land to cover on the center and we would like to have several volunteers to help bird the extensive habitat which includes woodland, prairie, and the bayou areas. Martha Hood is the coordinator for the count and you may contact her at lazuli007@yahoo.com or me.

- Andrew Hamlett, Leader, Armand Bayou Nature Center Survey

Background Information

Houston Audubon conducts monthly bird surveys of the Armand Bayou Nature Center property. The survey is held on the second Saturday of each month. The survey uses Christmas count protocol. This is your opportunity to have early access to all ABNC grounds and provide much needed data on all the avian inhabitants of ABNC, a precious island of wilderness amongst urban sprawl. Volunteer birders and area leaders are needed for this project. To participate, meet Andrew at 7:00 AM in the Armand Bayou Nature Center parking lot. We will compile results no later than 10:00 AM. Bring binocs, fluid, sun and insect protection.
